This one caught me off guard in a good way.
LUXE Desire opens with a juicy burst of cherry, backed by lavender and a less-noticeable peppery sparkle. As it develops, the pear and cognac start giving it a smooth, slightly boozy character, while ambrette, rose and hedione add a soft, elegant floral-musky texture.
But the real character comes in the dry-down — tobacco, vanilla and tonka create a warm, creamy sweetness, while cedar, vetiver and patchouli keep it from becoming overly gourmand.
What I particularly like about the composition is the balance: fruity without being childish, sweet without becoming syrupy, and warm without feeling heavy.
